Likes and dislikes – At the DVD rental shop

“It’s Friday afternoon and Seb, Luke and Sophie are at the DVD rental shop.

Sophie: Do you want to hire a DVD and hang out at my place?
Seb: Cool! Let’s get popcorn, too. Do you like watching DVDs, Luke?
Luke: Yes, I love watching DVDs and I love eating popcorn.
Sophie: How about this film? What do you think, Seb?
Seb: Oh, no! I can’t stand romantic comedies! They’re boring!
Sophie: Well, I think they’re fantastic!
Luke: Let’s find a film we all like.
Sophie: This film stars Zac Efron. I think he’s amazing!
Luke: I like him, too. How about you, Seb?
Seb: Well, I don’t mind watching it.
Luke: Brilliant! Now, there are three popcorn flavours…
Sophie: You know what? Let’s get all three!”

Do you want …? Ti/vi va …?

Es. Do you want to hire a DVD?

How about ….? Che ne dici di…?

Es. How about this film?

What do you think ….? Che ne pensi di…?

Es. What do you think about romantic comedies?

Mentre per indicare cosa ci piace e cosa no possiamo usare aggettivi come:

cool = forte, fico
boring = noioso
fantastic = fantastico
amazing = meraviglioso

oppure verbi tipo:

(to) like = piacere, gradire
(to) love = amare
(to) stand = tollerare, sopportare
(to) mind = dispiacere

Es. I like watching DVDs
Es. I love eating popcorn

flavour = gusto
place = (colloq.) casa
rental = a noleggio
romantic comedy = commedia romantica
(to) find = trovare
(to) get = predere
(to) hang out = passare del tempo
(to) hire = noleggiare
(to) star = essere interpretato

Es.  Let’s get popcorn! Prendiamo i popcorn!

Janet: Do you want to watch a film at my place this evening?
Sally: Great! Let’s get some ice-cream. What do you think, Sue?
Sue: Good idea, I love watching films and I love ice-cream!
Janet: How about Iron Man?
Sally: Oh, no! I can’t stand superhero films! They’re boring!
Janet: But I love Robert Downey Jr. He is so handsome!
Sue: Let’s find a film we all like.
Sally: This film stars Daniel Craig. I think he’s amazing!
Janet: I like him, too. How about you, Sue?
Sue: I don’t mind him.
Sally: Brilliant! Now, what ice-cream flavours do you like?
Janet: I love pistachio. How about you, Sue?”
Sue: Vanilla is my favourite!
Sally: Ok, then. Let’s get pistachio, vanilla and chocolate!

Buon lavoro e alla prossima! j
