Christmas Dinner – All in One Tray

Wow!

Vediamo subito cosa ci occorre:

1 disposable tray = 1 vaschetta in alluminio usa e getta
1 chopping board = 1 tagliere
1 chef’s knife = 1 coltello da cucina
tinfoil = carta argentata
1 big cup = 1 tazza grossa

E passiamo agli ingredienti:

2 carrots = 2 carote
2 parsnips = 2 pastinache
2 potatoes = 2 patate
Brussel sprouts = cavoletti di Bruxelles
1 leek = 1 porro
oil = olio
honey = miele
2 turkey breasts = 2 petti di tacchino
2 strips of smoked bacon = 2 fette di bacon affumicato

Ora vediamo gli ingredienti per il ripieno del tacchino: stuffing

1 red onion = 1 cipolla rossa
1 handful of parsley = 1 manciata di prezzemolo
1 handful of breadcrumbs = 1 manciata di pangrattato
1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard = 1 cucchiaino di senape di Digione
1 pinch of salt and 1 pinch of pepper = 1 pizzico di sale e 1 pizzico di pepe
1 sausage = 1 salsiccia

E quelli per gli Yorkshire puddings:

1 heaped tablespoon of plain flour = 1 cucchiaio da cucina colmo di farina
1 egg = 1 uovo
50 ml of milk = 50 ml di latte
1 pinch of salt = 1 pizzico di sale

Ed ecco gli ingredienti per la salsa gravy

500 ml of boiling water = 500ml di acqua bollente
1 stock cube = 1 dado

Passiamo ora alla preparazione.

“Let’s prepare this delicious Christmas roast dinner for two with minimum washing up, using just one tray!
The first thing is to prepare our veggies, an informal word for vegetables. Top and tail the carrots and the parsnips and slice them into chunks leaving the skin on, because it’s rich in fibre!
Cut the potatoes into 1 cm wedges. Put the chopped vegetables into the tin and add the Brussel sprouts.
Now it’s time to prepare the cases for our Yorkshire puddings. Use a double layer of tinfoil and help yourself with the cup to give the tinfoil the shape of a cupcake case, then flatten the bottom and put the cases in the tin.
Drizzle the vegetables with 2 tablespoons of oil and a little honey. Put 2 tablespoons of oil in each Yorkshire pudding case. Use an oil with a high burning temperature like sunflower oil.
Put everything in the oven for 10 minutes at 220° C.
Now it’s time to prepare the stuffing.
Half and chop the onion finely and put the chopped onion into the cup. Add a nice handful of chopped parsley, a generous handful of breadcrumbs, a teaspoon of Dijon mustard, a pinch of salt, a pinch of pepper and a skinned sausage. Mix everything together with a spoon.
Take the turkey breasts and place some stuffing on each breast. Wrap the turkey meat around the stuffing. Now take  the slices of smoked bacon and wrap them around the turkey. Use a toothpick or a cocktail stick to hold our turkey rolls together.
Chop the leak into 1 cm wedges and it’s now time to start making the batter for our Yorkshire puddings.
Put the flour, the egg and the milk into the cup, add a pinch of salt and whisk. Make sure there are no lumps in the batter!
Take the tin with the vegetables out of the oven, so we can add all the other components.
Pour the Yorkshire pudding batter into our tin cups, add the chopped leak on top of the vegetables and place the turkey rolls on top of the veg as well. Drizzle the vegetables and meat with a little oil, salt and pepper and put the tin back into the oven at the same temperature for 10 mins.
After 10 minutes, drop the temperature down to 200° C and leave everything to slow cook for 30/40 minutes.
No Christmas dinner is complete without gravy. So it’s now time to prepare our gravy.
Switch the oven off and take the Yorkshire puddings, some of the vegetables and the turkey out of the tin. You can dish up everything ready onto the plates, if you wish, and wrap the turkey in tinfoil, if you don’t want it to cool down, and pop everything back into the oven to keep it warm.
Leave some veggies in the pan for the gravy. Put the tin with the vegetables on a hob at medium heat and add the boiling water and the stock cube. Cook until it’s warm and nice and brown.
It’s time to serve: pour the gravy over your dinner, add some cranberry sauce, if you wish, and enjoy this delicious Christmas recipe!”
