Prepositions of place – Are you afraid of ghosts?

Cari amici Beginner, nei post Present Simple – Daily routine part 1 e Present Simple – more daily activities abbiamo visto alcune PREPOSIZIONI di TEMPO, in particolare:

AT
– con gli orari ⇒  Es. I get up at 7.00
– con “night”  ⇒  Es. At night I sleep

IN
– con le parti della giornata (tranne night)  x
Es. In the afternoon, Mark watches television
Es. Mark doesn’t go out in the evening

Oggi, invece, vedremo alcune PREPOSIZIONI di LUOGO, grazie a questo simpaticissimo video della Hamilton House Publishers.

“Mark: «It’s dark, it’s scary!»
Betty: «Are you afraid of ghosts?»
Mark: «No, I’m not. I’m very brave. Betty, there is a ghost behind the bin.»
Betty: «No, there isn’t.»
Mark: «There are ghosts under the desk.»
Betty: «No, there aren’t.»
Mark: «There are ghosts in the cupboard!»
Betty: «No, there aren’t. Mark! Don’t move! There’s a ghost behind you!»
Mark: «Oh, Betty!»
Betty: «Not scared of ghosts? Ah!»”

Povero Mark. Forse non è poi così coraggioso come dice, eh?!

Prima di vedere insieme le preposizioni di luogo usate in questo video, diamo un’occhiata ai nuovi vocaboli:

ghost = fantasma
bin = cestino dei rifiuti
desk = scrivania
cupboard = credenza/ armadietto

e agli aggettivi:

dark = buio
scary = pauroso
afraid = impaurito ⇒   to be afraid of = avere paura di
brave = coraggioso

Ed ecco, ora, le nostre PREPOSITIONS of PLACE:

BEHIND= dietro
UNDER= sotto
IN= dentro

THERE ARE = ci sono

Per la forma negativa e interrogativa e le risposte brevi vale quanto abbiamo già visto per il verbo To BE, ossia:

forma negativa:
THERE IS NOT = THERE ISN’T
THERE ARE NOT = THERE AREN’T

forma interrogativa:
IS THERE?
ARE THERE?

risposte brevi:
YES, THERE IS / NO, THERE ISN’T
YES, THERE ARE / NO, THERE AREN’T
